2011 Off to a Flying Start
Flinders Region was again flying the flag at the Townsville Australia Day Award Ceremony. 12 Guides from across the Region did us proud, as they carried the flags across the stage at the beginning of the ceremony.
Jamboree of the Air
October 17 - 19 2010
This year four Districts (Aitkenvale/Vincent, Charters Towers, Wulguru and South Townsville), held a combined camp at Bluewater, with 71 girls enjoying the chance to talk to Scouts and Guides all over the world. Some were lucky enough to speak to Japanese Scouts, and as close as the local Scouts across the highway and others in Victoria and elsewhere.

JOTA 2010
Other activities during the 2 day camp were Outdoor Cooking, River Traverse, Flying Fox, Low Ropes, Craft, Slip ‘n’ Slide and Greasy Pig, Bluewater History and Photography, Radio and Crash and Bash, and Orienteering. The Time Capsule was officially closed on Saturday night, and we viewed some excellent photos the girls had taken of their favourite parts of Bluewater Campsite. Exhausted girls, and leaders, fell into bed each night, including Sunday night when they went home!

Flying the Flag and Promise Renewal
10/10/2010 at 10am
Brisbane climbed the Story Bridge, we walked The Strand, creating quite a visual feast and a lot of interest from the numerous walkers and other groups using The Strand. We were also joined by about twenty family members and supporters who were Guides at some stage in their life.
This was followed by a short ceremony as we heard the old promises from the different sections, and counted down to 10a m, when we all renewed our promise. Five new members then made their promise for the first time. The Ice Cream connection was explained, before we handed out “ice-burger” vouchers and balloons. Games were played after morning tea.
Thanks to Macdonalds for supplying the ice, water coolers and burger vouchers, and 4TTT for the bus and advertising support. |
