Adventure Based Learning is an intricate part of a low ropes session and it is a requirement that participants attend a training before they receive their qualifications. It is therefore recommended that all participants attend the ABL training on the Sunday.

TO ALL ADULT LEADERS
Girl Guides Queensland campsite at Bluewater has a challenge low ropes course and a flying fox erected by Project Adventure Australia. Low ropes challenge courses are an integral part of adventure-based training programs and as such these facilities are extremely popular. Low ropes challenge courses have been shown to increase self esteem and confidence, and provide a learning environment in an atmosphere of fun, trust, challenge and excitement. They offer not only a physical but a mental challenge.
The flying fox starts from a platform 4 metres above the ground. Participants climb to the platform and experience the exhilaration of “flying” back down. The flying fox is exciting, helps build confidence and is fantastic for all ages.
Use of the facilities at Bluewater is restricted to those leaders who have completed a training course in their use. A low ropes and flying fox training course will be held on Saturday, 18th June 2011 and an Adventure Based Learning training will be held on Sunday, 19th June 2011 at Bluewater Campsite, Toolakea Beach Road from 9.00am until 5.00pm each day. A trainer from Kindilan Outdoor Education and Conference Centre will conduct the low ropes/flying fox training and local trainers will conduct the ABL training. Training will cover all aspects necessary for running a safe and effective program, including setting up of the course, use of the elements, care of equipment and safety considerations. Adventure Based Learning activities provide a balanced experience that will facilitate self-discovery, relationship building, problem solving and leadership development. Most importantly, everyone will have FUN in the process.
